Brett Flener, Division Four

"I Defend Nashville because it gives me an opportunity to actively work against a system that disrespects life.”

Meet the Defenders

Brett Flener graduated from Lipscomb University’s Law, Justice, and Society program with an emphasis on social change in 2012.  While enrolled, he was a co-founder of Open Table Nashville, a non-profit interfaith community that disrupts the cycles of poverty, journeys with the marginalized, and provides education about issues of homelessness; he served on its board of directors for five years. Prior to joining the Nashville Defenders, he worked as a program coordinator at The Contributor,  a street newspaper that creates economic opportunity with dignity by investing in the lives of people experiencing homelessness and poverty.
