The Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office is comprised of a staff of more than 70 people, including attorneys, investigators, administrative assistants, secretaries, social workers, law clerks, and paralegals. Throughout the year, the Office also benefits from the work of college and law school students who volunteer their time as interns with the Office.
Generally, the Public Defender’s Office accepts resumes year round for any individual seeking to join the staff as a lawyer. Attorneys are hired at the discretion of the Public Defender as positions become vacant, and as budgetary constraints allow. Inquiries regarding those positions should be sent directly to the Public Defender, either by e-mail at dawndeaner@jis.nashville.org or by mail to 404 James Robertson Parkway, Suite 2022, Nashville, TN 37219.
From time to time, other positions within the Public Defender’s Office become available, and will be specifically advertised on this website and elsewhere.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY METROPOLITAN PUBLIC DEFENDER’S OFFICE
Recently, several internet sites have advertised that we are accepting applications for an entry level attorney position. That information is incorrect; the Office does not currently have any attorney positions that it is seeking to fill. Should that situation change, this website will be updated to that effect.
Currently there are no open positions in the Metropolitan Public Defender's Office.
