The Public Defender’s office is pleased to announce that our Juvenile division is returning to their permanent location, the Juvenile Justice Center. The public defender shall render legal aid and defend only those indigent defendants who are in jail, charged with the commission of a crime and are unable to make bond, or such other defendants as a court with criminal jurisdiction shall determine to be indigent. In addition, the public defender shall provide guardian ad litem services when such services are deemed required by the Davidson County juvenile court for children who are the subject of proceedings in such court and the metropolitan government would be required by law to pay reasonable compensation for such services if not provided by the public defender. Celebrating 30 Years of Service!
On September 28, Kathleen Talley's dedicated service to the Metropolitan Government for more than 30 years was recognized at a breakfast with Mayor Dean and other service award recipients.
Kathleen began her career with the Public Defender's Office in 1987 in the intake and reception area. When two new Criminal Courts were created in Davidson County in 2002, Kathleen became a Legal Secretary for the Office's Division V staff, where she has worked ever since. She has proven herself to be someone who is always willing to help and to learn something new.
She has a wonderful sense of humor, a great deal of compassion for our clients, and she is beloved by her colleagues. Kathleen is a true asset to the Public Defender's Office and the city of Nashville, and we hope she continues to work with us for another 30 years! Congratulations Kathleen for this achievement.
