Mecca Shabazz grew up in Antioch and went on to graduate from Vanderbilt University in 2019. During her time in college, she interned with the Nashville Public Defender’s office. While there, she spent a lot of her time with the Investigation Team. Her experience with the office inspired her to apply to law school.
Mecca graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in May 2022. At the College of Law, she served as the President of the Black Law Student Association. She was also involved in the Tennessee Alliance for Black Lawyers (TABL) and American Inns of Court as a student member.
